I have always been fascinated by “black boxes” – why does a machine respond when a button is pressed? How does a program run when instructions are input? These seemingly unattainable underlying logics once made me curious. It wasn’t until Year 10 when I first encountered Computer Science that I realized: these “black boxes” are not unapproachable magic, but logical systems that can be understood, even customizable for my own vision! From then on, I transformed from an outsider to a creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every time I needed to practise past papers, I found myself clicking through Cambridge’s website \u2014 one file at a time, fighting slow connections and manual folder organisation. The frustration accumulated until one day my friend send me an simple Web Spider coded by ai, which can access internet. The source code open my world, I read every instructions and let ai explain everything to me, I understood it all! The code was easier than i imagined! I made the same mistake that thinking things would be diffcult and didn’t try to approach it. Suddenly the sparck clicks, I immedietly devoted myself into building my own project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program allow users to select subject, year, and paper type, then download everything in one go \u2014 automatically sorted into folders. Multi-threading made it fast. If also provide option of shown process bar, if user use single-threading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A week after I finished, Cambridge redesigned their website entirely. Every URL structure I had mapped broke overnight. After spending weeks getting the tool to work, watching it fail because of something completely outside my control was genuinely demoralising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I never considered abandoning it. My thinking was simple: I had already built this \u2014 I couldn’t let an external change be the thing that killed it. I spent a week analysing the new site structure, rewriting the scraping logic, restored full functionality, and even refactoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My CS teacher became a regular user of the tool after I share the toolwith him make feel so proud of my self, but when I share it to other people, bucause of it need run on terminal, people refuse to use it which let me feel sad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WordPlayer began as a terminal vocabulary tool I built during exam week \u2014 no assignment, no deadline, just a tool is totally suitable for me to learn english. When my CS teacher suggested creating a web interface, I taught myself full-stack development from scratch and rebuilt it as a live platform (wordplayer.top). None of this was covered in school; I learned by reading documentation, breaking things, and fixing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Knowing the product needed to look good, I reached out to two art student friends and invited them to collaborate. Because their schedules were unpredictable, I couldn’t set firm deadlines \u2014 so I made a deliberate architectural decision: I separated the visual layer from the application logic, leaving clearly defined spaces in the codebase that they could fill in whenever they were available. This wasn’t just a social compromise; it forced me to think about modularity in a way I hadn’t before. Their contributions \u2014 custom icons, refined colour schemes, adjusted layouts \u2014 shaped the final product in ways I couldn’t have achieved alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most interesting technical challenge emerged when users requested public folder sharing. Directly copying data would create massive redundancy, but using references required protecting publisher permissions. I redesigned the database schema with normalised reference tables \u2014 a decision I made entirely on instinct, before formally studying database theory in my CS course. When I later encountered normalisation principles in Unit 8, I recognised what I had already built. That moment confirmed something I’ve come to believe: curiosity-driven building is its own form of education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
i love to create, create some thing i thought they should exist on the world, but haven’t exist, or some i think they can be better. i want join the process, which can let me be the first group to try, to design, to customize, as a creater even a player, a user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want to live in a world where robotic companions are as common as smartphones; people can join to the meta-world when they want; where the boundary between human and machine is something we choose to redraw. Mechanical tail, sixth finger, third arm \u2014 humanity redefined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My projects are so tiny, But they’ve taught me how to learn fast, build from scratch, and iterate until something works. I’ve talked with students who are already on this path, building stuff for their own aim. I want to join them \u2014 to find collaborators who take ambitious ideas seriously, and to earn my place in the work that matters to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
